Is jasmine rice good for dogs?

Jasmine rice is low in saturated fat, sodium and cholesterol and contains carbohydrates, proteins, fiber, iron, niacin, thiamine and amino acids.

Though it is not common, dogs can be affected by food allergy. As long as your dog is not allergic to rice, there is no problem, and you can feed rice to your dog. But if your dog is allergic to rice, then they might suffer from loss of hair, infection or skin itch. In which immediately stop giving him the rice and call the vet.

How to give jasmine rice for dogs

If your dog is suffering from diarrhea, the best remedy suggested by vet is to withhold food for 12 hours. After the 12 hours, you can give him jasmine rice.

Rice for Dog Diarrhea

Jasmine rice is a good remedy for diarrhea. Combine 1 cup of Jasmine rice to 3 cups of filtered water. Boil this mixture. Once the water starts boiling, simmer the flame and continue boiling till all the water is absorbed by the rice. Let the rice cool and serve your dog a small portion 3 times a day till diarrhea is stopped. If diarrhea persists after two days, consult the vet. You can also add boiled chicken after squeezing excess water from the chicken and boiled ground beef.

The most important factor to remember when your dog is suffering from diarrhea is to make sure that he does get dehydrated due to loss of water and electrolytes. Make him drink enough water.

To conclude, it is really safe to give Jasmine rice for your dog, especially if he is suffering from stomach upset. Though jasmine rice is very nutritious you should not supplement your dog’s basic diet with Jasmine rice, and a small portion of the rice should be added only as a supplement to the basic diet. Just giving him a rice alone diet will not provide him all the nutrients he requires to remain healthy.

    Brown rice actually has significantly more fiber than white, and can be harder on stomachs in large quantities.
